Frankie Basket Recipe – Indian Street Food Style

Bring the taste of Indian street food to your home with this crispy, flavour-packed Frankie Basket. A perfect combination of spiced veggies, soft roti, tangy chutneys, and crunchy salad served in a creative basket style. Great for parties, snacks, or dinner!




Ingredients

For the Roti/Wrap:

2 cups whole wheat flour

1 tbsp oil

Salt to taste

Water (as needed for dough)


For the Filling:

2 medium potatoes (boiled & mashed)

1 carrot (grated)

½ cup cabbage (shredded)

½ cup capsicum (thinly sliced)

1 small onion (sliced)

1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1 tsp red chilli powder

½ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp garam masala

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tbsp oil

Salt to taste


For Assembling:

2 tbsp green chutney (mint-coriander)

2 tbsp tamarind chutney

2 tbsp grated cheese (optional)

1 tbsp mayonnaise or yogurt dip (optional)

Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)





Instructions

1. Prepare the Rotis:

Mix wheat flour, oil, salt, and water to form a soft dough.

Roll into thin rotis and cook lightly on a tawa.



2. Make the Filling:

Heat oil in a pan, add onion and ginger-garlic paste.

Sauté, then add carrot, cabbage, capsicum, and mashed potatoes.

Mix in all spices and cook for 5 minutes until well combined.



3. Assemble the Frankie:

Place a roti, spread green chutney and tamarind chutney.

Add 2–3 tablespoons of filling and roll into a frankie.



4. Make the Basket:

Arrange 2–3 frankies upright in a serving bowl/basket.

Top with chutneys, cheese, coriander, and salad garnish.



5. Serve immediately with extra chutneys or dips on the side.
